A few days ago I wrote a post about the story behind the MMORPG, EVE Online. The story was interesting enough, but what really makes EVE an addicting game is the gameplay. First things first though. Either you love EVE, or you hate it. It’s one of those games where you can’t stop playing it, or you never really get into it. This game is definitely not for everyone. I will discuss this more in-depth later in the article. So let’s get started!
The first thing you do in EVE, as I mentioned in Part 1, is create your character. You can choose from one of four races: the Amarr, the Minmitar, the Gallente, or the Caldari. Each race has a separate backs tory, which you can read about in Part 1 or the official EVE website. From there, you can choose a specific bloodline, which is pretty much just a race within a race. Different races start off with different skills and different ships, but no one race has an advantage over the other. However, your race does determine what ships you will start out with. The starting ships aren’t very strong, so I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it if I were you.

Hey everyone. I just got back from the Jimmy Fund trip to Atlanta, aptly named “Hotlanta 2009″, due to weather in the 90’s all weekend. We left last Friday, and we saw a Red Sox game against the home team, the Atlanta Braves. Right before the game, we got to meet some of the players. I got a baseball autographed by some of them and also by the manager, Terry Francona. I had a blast!
I also wanted to say a little bit about the celebrity deaths. It’s been a bad month for celebrities, with a couple of singers and a star pitchman down the drain. I wish the best for all of their families and loved ones. I’ll see y’all later.
Today, I am going to Atlanta, GA to see a Red Sox game. I will be watching the game from a very nice luxury box (woot!), and I will get to meet the Sox (for the second time) right before the game. I’m bringing a Sox hat to get signed. I can’t wait! I have to be at Logan International Airport by 3:00 EST, and from there we will depart!
In other news, RIP Michael Jackson. He died yesterday, supposedly of cardiac arrest or some other heart-related trauma. His music will continue to influence generations of musicians to come.
See ya!
PS: I am still working on part two of Meet EVE Online, it’s gonna be pretty big. See ya again.
School finished last Tuesday for me, putting an end to a great four years at the Middle School. Having finished 8th grade, everyone in the class of 2013 is going to high school. Can’t wait to see everyone there!
In other news, there’s a competition going on over at Appstorm (the Mac application review blog, which is managed by Envato). They are giving away 10 copies of Forklift (a Mac FTP/SFTP client) and 5 copies of Flux (a visual web development application), which adds up to over $750 of software.
Here’s a link to the competition, in case anyone wants in on the action!

Also, I wanted to share with you all a machinima (a movie made in a video game) that I really like. It is based off of the game Portal by Valve.

That’s it for Minipost #1. See ya.
There are lots of MMORPG’s (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) out there. I don’t claim to be a MMORPG master (heck, I don’t even play that many). I am going to tell you about one instead.
EVE Online already has a huge userbase, it’s pretty well known. It’s basically a Space exploration game, in which users can pilot a wide array of ships in the largest Virtual Universe in the world. It has about 5,000 Solar Systems to explore. Continue reading ‘Meet EVE Online, Part 1: The Story of EVE’
I have been a gamer since I was quite young. My first console was the original Playstation. My sisters and I would play classics like Spyro, Gran Turismo, and Crash Bandicoot. But as games got more advanced, I started becoming more interested in other platforms, mainly PC.
Most disc-based games have a limit to how often they can be registered (how many times you can enter their serial number). If you are trying to install your game on multiple computers, this can get very annoying at times. The game Spore, which was released on September 7th, 2008, was highly criticized because it only allowed a maximum of three registrations per game. As you can imagine, the sales of the game suffered greatly because of this. Continue reading ‘Steam: The Nexus of PC Gaming’
